About
I've been creating websites since 1997 - I specialise in coding XHTML, CSS, Javascript and most of all, developing complex backend systems for modern online applications.
I am currently employed by eCommerce specialists TwentyCi as a Ruby on Rails Developer. Our team is the creative force behind such online stores as Evans Cycles, Sportfish, Farlows and Hot Diamonds. At Ominor, we actively use agile methodologies to create our software, with iterative development across weekly sprints.
Previous employers include Huguenot, Ireland's largest design consultancy, where I was Lead Developer on Meteor's portal website and their online store. Other client work at Huguenot included Supervalu, Spencer Dock and McInerney Holdings, which run on an internally developed Ruby on Rails CMS system.
I have also freelanced throughout my career and my work includes the design and development of The Handbag Exchange and RedCafe.net (for which I won an award at the 1999 Golden Spiders).
Whenever possible I try to contribute to the open source community, albeit not as much as I would like. You can browse some of my projects and contributions on Github.
I'm always open to discussing freelance opportunities, so drop me a line if you have a project you would to discuss.
