An innovative e-commerce website that offers visitors the opportunity to sell their old handbags and buy nearly-new ones.
Featured in the Irish Times and on Spin FM radio, the site has received widespread acclaim for it's unique business plan, as well as its generosity in donating 5% of all sales to Action Breast Cancer, Ireland.
Abecto Design was entrusted with the implementation of the website in late 2006. Given the target audience is primarily female, careful attention was paid in the design phase to achieving the correct balance of aesthetics and functionality.
Given the complexity of the TheHandBagExchange.ie's backend, we chose to develop the site using Ruby on Rails, a rapid and powerful development framework.
The site features a comprehensive site management system that allows the client to maintain every aspect of the website, from creating and updating handbags to modifying content on numerous pages.
Ensuring safe and secure online payment processing is an essential requirement for any e-commerce website and so we chose the services of Realex, Ireland's leading online payment processing company.
Abecto also provided specialised hosting for TheHandBagExchange.ie, configuring the site's server specifically to the needs and requirements of the website.
